White Cardboard Boxes and Other Available Types

White Cardboard Boxes

White cardboard boxes are used when appearance is important and you want to portray an image of professionalism for your business or organization. They also help make your company logos stand out and be more noticeable from a distance, which helps build your brand’s awareness. A product, shipped in a white cardboard box, as opposed to the typical brown cardboard box, will make a greater impression on the receiver.

But even if you are planning to use cardboard boxes only for storage, in either a residential or business setting, white cardboard boxes are still better to use because they make your labels or markings easier to read. That way, you can easily locate and identify any particular storage box when needed. Plus, white cardboard boxes simply look cleaner and more tidy. When your kids use them for personal storage, they can have a great time getting in touch with their creative side by decorating them, perhaps creating an entire theme for their room! Think about all the things you can store and keep out of the way – documents, photos, records, food, clothes, shoes, jewelry, arts and crafts, tools, and so much more!

White cardboard boxes are made in many styles. You can buy them in a corrugated style. The corrugated style consist of one or two layers flat layers of cardboard, lined with a ruffled (the corrugated) layer. This makes a more rigid, yet cushioned structure to the box which allows it to hold and protect delicate objects. For this reason, it is ideal for packaging and delivery. The rigid nature of corrugated boxes also make them the best types of boxes to use for storage rooms and warehouses, as many can be stacked on top of each other without the worry of warping or crumpling. The typical corrugated box is made out of either 200# or 32ECT C flute.

The corrugated style is often sold in the traditional design, which requires assembly with wide and sturdy packaging tape. This is an affordable solution that works for most customers as they rather easy to put together. Likewise, they are easy to “break down,” in case the user wants to store the box away for later use. The corrugated style is also sold in a tab locking design. This design takes more time to put together as the box needs to be folded in a number of different ways to so that the cut out tabs lock with each other to construct the walls of the box. The end result is a box with an attached lid that can be locked with a built in tab, or simply has a long flap that slides into a slit built into the box.

Some white cardboard boxes will have their own independent lids. These are sold in two separate pieces, one for the box and one for the lid. As you can imagine, these cost a little more, but are worth it if you plan to store a lot and for long periods of time. Many of these models will have side holes large enough to slip your hand in so they are easier to carry.

Other, non corrugated styles are also available. These styles don’t have the rigidness or structural integrity of corrugated boxes. They are ideal for smaller items and light storage. For example, many jewelry departments or stores will often give you a little white cardboard box with lid with your purchase. These are usually held together by glue or small concealed staples. However, they are perfect for this purpose as they are sturdy enough and are elegant.

Some white cardboard boxes are rather large but are rather flimsy. They are held together by an adhesive or require the user to put them together with interlocking tabs or scotch tape. These are not ideal for long term or heavy storage, or for storage of fragile items. They are best for the wrapping of light durable goods such as apparel. Pastry, doughnut, and cake shops often use these types of boxes to place orders in and make it easy for customers to transport.

White cardboard boxes are available in all sorts of sizes and dimensions. You can find them in sizes as small as four by four by four inches, and as large as twenty four by twelve by twelve inches, for example.

Prices will vary and will depend on many things such as the number which you plan to buy in a bundle, the sizes in which you will buy them, and the particular vendor you choose to shop from. A typical bundle will consist of twenty five boxes, and prices will commonly range between twenty cents to two dollars per box. As with any item that you can purchase in bulk, the more you buy at one time the lower the cost per unit. For example, a bundle of twenty five 24″ x 12″ x 12″ white cardboard boxes will often sell for thirty to thirty five dollars, which is about $1.25 to $1.40 per box. However, some vendors will be able to sell you a bundle of one hundred of these boxes for one hundred dollars, just one dollar per unit. That is about forty to sixty dollars worth of savings per one hundred units. If you ship large quantities, you will save hundreds if not thousands of dollars per year when buying quantities of one hundred or more. When buying such large quantities, some vendors will allow you to put a small down payment and charge the rest on merchant credit, especially when you have given them lots of repeat business.

Some vendors who sell white cardboard boxes will give free shipping, but many will not, as it is rather expensive for them to ship such large items. Free shipping is usually given to customers who order thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. However, you might want to purchase from a vendor that is nearby and offer to pick your order up. Alternatively, you can ask if the vendor which your dealing with has its own delivery service and would come to you for a small fee.

One important thing to consider when shopping for white cardboard boxes for your business is the weight capacity of the boxes that you are thinking about buying. You want to ask yourself questions such as, “will these boxes hold up and securely transport the typical product that I plan to send out?” But you can feel good knowing that a typical two feet by one foot by one foot box can hold up to sixty five pounds.
